Jacobs Creek Wine Dispenser
The Brief
We were asked to develop a dispensing wine unit for Jacobs Creek to broaden the reach of the brand. The unit was to be trialled aboard P&O ferries and would need to be able to serve up both chilled and temperature optimised drinks. The unit had to house two commercial Enoline wine units, which are the staple of wine bars around the world. It also had to be very robust whilst also being easy to service and also easily transported so it could be moved to different locations.
The Process
We designed the unit in Solidworks, around a central steel box section frame, and incorporated a pallet design into the structure so that it could be easily moved via a pump truck. We incorporated some very heavy-duty castors which had levelling integrated into them. Each of the wine units weighing over 80kg’s and required to be regularly serviced and cleaned. The units also had to be supplied with compressed nitrogen gas, which had to be easily replaceable, and yet housed safely.
A complex and challenging unit to design; ensuring that we fully considered serviceability, safely whilst remaining true to the brand concept. Additionally, we had to design a bespoke cup dispenser system, discretely housed behind a hinged door to both sides of the unit. To each end of the fixture were two lightboxes and branded and illuminated headers. The stock areas had to be well illuminated and the entire fixture also needed be powered up from an easily accessible key operated switch. To say that this unit was a challenge is an understatement, but we revelled in the challenge. We oversaw the production of the entire unit, which was a pleasure to see it come to life.
