Malibu Surfboard Bar

We were briefed on the concept from the brand and asked to develop and support with the manufacture of this promotional drinks bar display for Malibu. The concept had a surfboard bar with a fold down illuminated counter with lively graphics conveying the brand ethos of “Getting Your Island On”. It’s not often you get to be involved in the whole process, and we were glad to assist on a project with such a visually intriguing design.

Designed in Solidworks, we engineered the display to be dismantled to allow it to be shipped in several packing crates, ensuring that it could be assembled quickly for promotional events. The fixture was designed around an internal steel structure and was clad in fire retardant plastic sheets. The fixture had to retain the look an feel of a surfboard and had LED lighting integrated into the folding counter. We also had to integrate two monitors, spot lighting and a palm tree into the promotional display, all while ensuring that the display was compliant to strict airport fire regulations.

It was a pleasure to be involved in such an interesting and different retail fixture alongside Amalgam Modelmaking and The Fletcher Project (who designed the concept).
